Featured Animal Shelters and Rescues

There are thousands of shelters all across the U.S., most of which would not exist without private donations.  This year, there has been a sharp increase in the numbers of surrendered and abandoned animals, primarly due to the economy.  This puts a heavy burden on shelters, but you can help.  Remember, that even the smallest donation counts and it could make a difference to an animal who is just waiting for their forever home. 

 

Dell City Humane Society, a non-profit animal shelter in Texas, has Launched a capitol campaign. Their goal is to raise $200,000 to build a NO-KILL shelter on 25 acres. Bobbi and the Strays, a non-profit animal shelter in New York, are in danger of losing their home in December 2008. They are leasing a building which will be sold. SPCA of Central Florida, a non-profit animal shelter located in Orlando handles over 60,000 adoptions a year.  This busy shelter has several fun events throughout the year such as Paws in the Park in February, FurBall in May, and Wiggle Waggle Walk in October.  Join in the fun or donate at www.orlandopets.org.

Fauquier SPCA in Warrenton, VA is currently in need of donations to assist with shipping costs for their pet food.  Hill's Science Diet donates food, but the shelter has to pay to have it brought in at a cost of $150+ per week.  The program is quickly running out of funds.  Having one consistent food for the animals housed at the shelter is key to providing good health.  Please help by donating at www.fauquierspca.com
